Marking
For our annual Programme of the Season Award each club’s issue is given a mark out of 40 (previously 20 for our first two awards) for their performance across four categories. These categories are shown below, with details on the type of information we look out for in each section.
1 – Design – page layouts, use of colour, original artwork, photography, and ease of text reading.
2 – Original Content – historical content, quality of writing, original ideas, and the amount of reading.
3 – Opposition Coverage – articles about opponents, player pen-pics, tactical analysis, club records, and interviews.
4 – Club Information – previous match coverage, coverage of youth and women’s teams, statistics sections, club news, and community work.
With the standard of programme production in the Premier League being consistently high, it is not unusual for several programmes to finish with the same total score. In such instances, programmes are separated by their ‘value for money score’. This is calculated by dividing the ‘net’ number of pages in the programme (after adverts are taken out) into the cost of the programme.
