The programme covers from the latest round of Premier League games are shown below. This round of games included the midweek fixtures on 21st, 22nd, and 23rd January, as well as the re-arranged game between West Ham United and Liverpool on 29th January.
Among the notable covers this week was that produced by Everton for the visit of Newcastle United. The cover showed former Toffees striker Graeme Sharp, who had been announced as the ‘Club’s Player’s Life President’ the previous day. This feature on Everton’s official website recalls Sharp’s career at Goodison Park, which was so influential in the club’s domestic and European successes of the mid-1980s.
Chelsea marked the visit of Arsenal with another ‘Collector’s Edition’ of their matchday programme. The club has used this label to mark notable occasions on several of their programmes for the season to date, with the match against Arsenal representing the 200th meeting between the two clubs. The cover artwork incorporated images from various memorable (at least from Chelsea’s perspective) matches against Arsenal, including Wayne Bridge scoring the winning goal at Highbury in the 2004 Champions League and Eden Hazard’s brilliant solo goal at Stamford Bridge in February 2017.
Elsewhere, Sheffield United’s cover for the visit of Manchester City included pictures of the clubs’ respective managers, Chris Wilder and Pep Guardiola, whilst Conor Coady was the latest subject of Louise Cobbold’s excellent artwork as Wolverhampton Wanderers entertained Liverpool.
