The covers of each of the Premier League programmes from last weekend (Saturday 14th to Monday 16th December) are shown below.
Amidst several excellent designs, the Liverpool issue was worthy of particular note. The cover featured the legendary figure of former manager Bill Shankly and his famous quote “Liverpool was made for me, and I was made for Liverpool”. The weekend’s fixture against Watford came just over 60 years since Shankly took charge of Liverpool, with the club struggling in the Second Division. There have been several articles in the media about Shankly’s impact and ongoing legacy at Liverpool, with this feature from the Independent being one of the better reads.
The Liverpool issue also made reference to ‘LFC Foundation Day’, designed to highlight the work of the club’s official charity. The Arsenal programme from their match against Manchester City did likewise for their foundation. Elsewhere it was the always impressive designs from Wolves and Burnley that caught the eye, with the cover of the latter standing out for the contrast between the black and white stripes of visitors Newcastle and the claret and blue colours of the side from Turf Moor.
